观世音菩萨，又称「观世音」、「观音」、「观自在」等。观音信仰出现在印度教、佛教、道教及民间信仰，是慈悲和智慧的象征，其宗教信仰地位崇高，由于观音的化身很多，不论是佛庙，道观乃至於民间庙宇都有供奉不同的观音造像。在道教，称为慈航真人。
观音是大慈大悲的菩萨，当人们遇困难时，只要喊观音的圣号，他就会前来救助。许多身历困境、灾难或意外的信徒，都有在危难关头，口喊观音圣号而化险为夷的经历。观音也是妇孺的保护神，能保护产育并能送子。观音也是小孩的保护神，保护儿童平安健康长大。
观音诞期一年有三个，农历二月十九、六月十九、九月十九都是观音诞。
Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy, appears in Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism and folk beliefs. As a symbol of compassion and wisdom, Guan Yin has a high religious status in different countries. Due to Guan Yin's many incarnations, across Buddhist temples, Taoist temples and folk shrines, there are many different statues of Guan Yin. In Taoism, Guan Yin is also known as Ci Hang Zhen Ren.
Guan Yin is a merciful Bodhisattva. For those who encounter difficulties, as long as they call out the holy name of Guan Yin, they will be rescued. Many believers have experienced being saved by Guan Yin when they chanted the holy name of Guan Yin in times of danger, difficulties or disaster. As the patron saint of women and children, Guan Yin also provides protection during childbirth, and ensures children grown up safely and healthily.
There are three feast days of Guan Yin every year: the 19th of the 2nd lunar month, the 19th of the 6th lunar month and the 19th of the 9th lunar month.
